Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small piece of information stored by a browser for a website. Some cookies last only for a browsing session; others remain until they expire or are removed. Local storage is a separate browser feature that can retain information on the same device. Rules concerning storage and access can apply to both technologies.

First-party storage is associated with the website you visit. Third-party storage is associated with another provider whose service is used within a page. A stored identifier may become personal information when it can be linked to an individual. The privacy policy explains the handling of personal information more generally.

The page navigation and contact draft builder do not require a persistent identifier. Form fields are used to prepare an email draft on your device and are not saved by the website script. Browser autofill and an email application may retain information under their own settings.

Storage categories

The table distinguishes necessary storage from optional uses. Specific storage provided by a consent or hosting layer should be identified in its settings, including the name, provider and duration. Category descriptions are not a request to permit every possible use.

Cookie and storage categories
CategoryPurposeSite treatmentDuration and control
EssentialDeliver a requested service, maintain security or remember a consent decision.Limited to storage necessary for the relevant function. A consent preference may be retained by the consent controls. The provider determines the expiry; browser storage controls allow inspection and deletion.
AnalyticsMeasure page use, navigation or interaction patterns. This website is configured without Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or a separate analytics integration. An optional analytics deployment requires an updated disclosure and any legally required consent before storage or access.
FunctionalRemember optional display or interaction preferences. The page scripts do not persist optional interface preferences. Any additional preference service must be assessed separately.Where offered, optional storage can be controlled through consent settings and browser deletion.

Consent and changing a decision

UK rules on cookies and similar technologies arise from the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside data protection law where personal information is involved. Storage that is strictly necessary for a requested service can be treated differently from optional tracking. The applicable legal conditions must be considered for the actual purpose, not merely the category label.

Where consent controls are presented, you can accept optional uses, reject non-essential uses or choose categories in preferences. Rejecting optional storage should not prevent access to ordinary informational pages. Consent must be specific and capable of withdrawal; visiting another page is not itself a choice to accept optional tracking.

Clearing the browser’s site data may remove a recorded preference, so the consent controls may ask again on a later visit. A choice on one device or browser does not automatically apply to another. Withdrawing consent affects future optional storage and access; it does not by itself reverse processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Browser opt-out and deletion

You can inspect and delete cookies or site data in your browser’s privacy settings. You can also block third-party cookies or use exceptions for individual sites. Blocking all storage may affect necessary functions on some websites. Private browsing usually limits persistence after the private session ends, but does not prevent every form of data processing.

Instructions are available from Google Chrome support, Mozilla Firefox support and Apple Safari support. Browser labels and controls vary by device. A browser “Do Not Track” signal does not necessarily create the same effect as a site consent choice.

External links and questions

Following a link to external documentation takes you to another organisation’s website. That organisation determines its own cookies, storage and privacy practices. Local images on this website do not require loading an external image host.

Questions about storage or consent can be sent to [email protected]. The operator is Brackenfold AI Services Ltd, 28 Alderwick Close, Ancoats, Manchester, M4 6LN, United Kingdom. This policy will be updated where a material change to storage purposes or providers requires a revised explanation.
